The bank customers who were facing huge hurdles while paying their bills via credit cards. Due to prevailing situation, the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has notified the banks to resolve these issues in their systems as soon as possible.

The central bank of Pakistan has taken a notice of these service issues of several banks which are for sure not accepting the credit card bills and other than those of the issuing bank through alternative delivery channels (ADCs) which includes the internet banking, mobile banking, ATMs and Branchless Banking / Retail agents; especially from the customers of commercial and microfinance banks.

In short, the banks were suggested to ensure that all of these credit cards customers are provided with an option to pay their credit card bills which is utilizing Bill Payment Services (BPS), which could enable the credit card users to pay their credit card bills through ADCs (Internet Banking, Mobile Banking, ATMs etc., branchless banking agents and on the branch counters of the any bank/MFBs.

All the Banks/MFBs are advised to align their system with necessary changes by March 31, 2019. All the credit cards which issuing a bank should submit their project plans to PSD latest by November 30, 2018.

Banks/MFBs are advised to ensure these compliances of the above instructions failure of these instructions could result in penal action under the relevant laws.
