The Supreme Court of Pakistan has recently banned all the broadcasting of any Indian content on all of the local TV channels.
The apex court has reinstated the ban on the transmission of the Indian content while hearing a petition of the United Producers Associations (UPA) on the matter. Previously, the High Court of Lahore allowed the Indian Content to be broadcasted.
Mian Saqib Nisar, the former Chief Justice of Pakistan, has said that the India is trying to encumber the construction of our dam and we even can’t ban their channels.
However, it’s not a blanket ban on the foreign content, as he ordered to ‘shut down’ the broadcast of Indian shows while asking the authorities to only air appropriate content.
It is important to be pointed out that the Pakistan Electronic Media Regulatory Authority (PEMRA) which has bans the broadcast of Indian content on October 2016 on the local TV and radio channels.
While, Lahore High Court (LHC) lifted the ban while directing to censor only the objectionable Indian content or the content which is containing anti-Pakistan rhetoric.
